A Millennium in Bowden Middlecale by Martin Wharmby

The debut novel from LJMU graduate Martin Wharmby, A Millennium in Bowden Middlecale is the story of Albert Critchlow, a 17 year old who wants nothing to do with his Derbyshire hometown of New Mills.  Distracted by bad news and drinking by himself as he walks bythe River Goyt, he is witness to a grisly murder below the Union Bridge – only for the scene to fade from view. Haunted by what he witnessed, he finds himself seeing more and more unfamiliar events and buildings, and it becomes clear he is reliving moments from the town’s history. Can Albert find out why it’s happening to him before it’s too late?
